Game changer. The kind of player you would love to have on your team if the opportunity presented. Hated him when he played against my favorite team. He's a Hall of Famer. |

For me with any sport ... If you have to make a case for the player.. then no.
It should be automatic when you say the players name.
Mays... Trout... DiMaggio...
Dionne...Hasek...Dryden...you get the picture.

But that's not the way the HHOF is run. If that was the standard, sure. It's not. - Michael_Stuart
By the way ... Love the Mariners emblem...

1000 pts and a PPG player who played a majority of his games in the dead puck era? In without question. |

Weak class. I’d have him in before Alf |

Right?! It's insane that he's not already in.
After Iggy, I feel he's the next most obvious choice in this years selection. |

If Mats Sundin is a 1st ballot inductee, then Alfredsson should be there also.
their PPG is very close (sundin right at ppg, alfredsson JUST below), Alfi has individual awards, sundin has none, alfredsson has brought his team to conf finals multiple times and cup finals once, sundin never did, alfredsson was the more productive players for Sweden internationally. their playoff production was almost identical, etc.
i'm not saying Alfredsson is better than sundin, but they're close enough that if one is a 1st ballot guy, the other should absolutely be there too.
I use Sundn as a comparison because their per game stats are close, they both played in the same era, they both captained teams in Ontario, they both played internationally for the same country at the same time, etc |

Alfredsson has very good, maybe great, numbers. Had a lot of success internationally (96 World Cup Triple OT vs. Canada was the best game I ever saw live). And while I cant really explain, he just lacks "it." I'm not sure what "it" is, but there's just something about him that seems lacking.
If he gets in, I wouldn't be upset, but I think that he's one step below HHOF worthy. Just my 2 cents. |

if that's the case than 1/3 of the players in the HHOF shouldn't be there - sensarmy_11
Yes. I think this should be the case. Not every player in the HHOF has to be Orr or Gretzky, but some more selectivity would have been nice. But no turning back at this point. |

100% agree that if Mats Sundin is in the Hall of Fame, then Daniel Alfredsson should be as well. Sundin was a great player and I know a lot of people feel 500G is a critical threshold, but in addition to >1200GP and >1150pts, Alfredsson has more NHL hardware, was a longer-serving captain, and actually got to play in the Stanley Cup Finals... where in spite of not winning, he was a legitimate Conn Smythe candidate.
There's no way that one is a first-ballot HOF player, and the other doesn't get in at all.

**No.**
If Osgood ever gets in (why????) then Alfie probably will and then they'll need to rename it. Something like "Popular players who were also pretty good" hall-of-fame |
